Interactive Web Links

You may want to use these for center activities after students have mastered the fundamental knowledge.  Please preview and see if the skills you teach are here.

Rubrics for Your Classroom

Please use this resource to create many types of rubrics for student use.  Each center you develop should have a rubric. Students need to know the achievement levels in advance.  A good reflective practice would be to have them grade themselves and provide “evidence” for the grade they feel they achieved.  When you grade, you can tell them why they did or did not reach the achievement level they chose.  Have them reflect later on ways to improve.

Take a look at this link for some cool teaching ideas for 21 C skills.

Students,

We had to change the agenda due to yesterday’s field trip to Tulane.

Read “The Minister’s Black Veil”.  I posted a link on the side, so you do not have to lug your books home.

Write an essay covering the following question, which is on the bottom right of page 273 in your textbooks:

Comparing Literature

In a brief essay ( beginning, middle, and end) compare and contrast the attitudes revealed in Hawthorne’s story to the attitudes held by the Puritans such as Johnathan Edwards (“Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” page 46).  Consider especially attitudes toward sin, guilt, and the conditions necessary for salvation. How  do you think Hawthorne felt about the tenets of Puritanism?
